This United States holiday started after the Civil War when early observers marked the last Monday of May by decorating cemeteries. As you know, rubber duckies make excellent decorations for any occasion. Many Americans now observe Memorial Day by visiting memorials, holding family gatherings, and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season. Even more unofficially, it marks the start of rubber ducky season! Time to head to the pool and get swimming!
